Dialog Fitzroy at the Transposer NZ STAR Awards

Transpower New Zealand STAR Awards

Dialog Fitzroy Tower Services have been contracting to Transpower for the maintenance of their transmission tower network for more than 13 years, with a focus on the central North Island region.

The STAR Awards are held by Transpower every two years to recognise and celebrate the champions of health, safety, and wellbeing best practice across New Zealand’s electricity transmission industry.

STAR stands for Safety, Thanks, and Recognition.

Dialog Fitzroy Tower Services entered two separate awards categories:

Hauora Wellbeing Initiative - An initiative or strategy that is leading to greater physical, mental, social and/or spiritual hauora or wellbeing for people
We entered this award promoting our “What's My Why” program

Team Safety - A team or organisation that has significantly improved its safety culture and performance by adopting better ways of working
This award was entered in conjunction with the other Tower painting Companies ARL, DIALOG Fitzroy, Cake, Northpower & SRG throughout New Zealand to promote our huge improvement in Safety performance that the tower painting industry as a whole has achieved by sharing learnings together.

The awards ceremony was held on Wednesday 18th October via a gala dinner hosted by Miriama Kamo at the Auckland War Memorial Museum.
We were represented by members of the Dialog Fitzroy Executive team and were accompanied key frontline members of our Towers team and their partners.

Very pleasingly we were selected as the winner of the Hauora Wellbeing Initiative which was presented by the Transpower Chief Executive Alison Andrew. Transpower made the following comment:

Dialog Fitzroy's 'What’s My Why' programme takes a holistic approach, helping people identify the alignment between their personal values and the organisation’s values. It also aims to drive positive behaviours around health and safety, physical and mental wellbeing, pride, and identity.

As the winner of our category we then qualified for the Supreme award and for the first time, Transpower announced two winners for the prestigious STAR Supreme Award – Craig Moore from Ventia, and Dialog Fitzroy Tower Services for its ‘What’s my Why?’ programme.

Transpower's panel of judges "found it impossible to choose between these two exceptional entries, recognising their equally significant contributions to the advancement of health, safety, and wellbeing within our sector".

It was a great night among a group of outstanding STAR finalists and winners, and we look forward to continuing our work with Transpower New Zealand.
