Geothermal Power Station – Taupo, NZ

DIALOG Fitzroy has signed an agreement with Japanese engineering, procurement and construction contractor Sumitomo Corporation and Fuji Electric, for the role of installation contractor for the construction of a new 168MW Geothermal Power Station for Contact Energy called “Tauhara”, which is located in Taupo.

This will be a major new “Clean Energy” opportunity for DIALOG Fitzroy as a mechanical contractor responsible for installing the steam turbines, generators and condensers. Additionally, we will manage, fabricate and install the balance of plant and piping systems.  The workshop pipe-spooling scope includes 18,000 diameter inches, site-spooling of 5,000 diameter inches, and site field-welding is almost 11,000 diameter inches.  The equipment installation and piping site hours are estimated at over 100,000 hours.

DIALOG Fitzroy Solution

It was acknowledged early that our project team were very experienced in geothermal projects of this type, and understood where the potential project bottlenecks might be.  During the negotiation stages we worked very closely with our client to introduce construction methodologies and schedule variations that would assist in mitigating potential issues, and achieving the project completion deadlines.
